    Welcome to all PSC women!

There is a great new opportunity to get on the water  and sail in a fun, supportive, learning environment! We are very excited to offer this amazing new program to create a community of women supporting each other through sailing.

    The Sailing Program:

Starts: April 11 - September 19 (6 months of sailing!)

Location: At JBAB (Capitol Cove Marina: 90 Giovannoli St SW, Washington D.C. 10032)

Times: Monthly on Thursday evenings at 5:30 pm and Saturday mornings at 9 am.  Depending on demand we will rotate to ensure everyone get’s on time on the water.

Cost: $60 to cover the cost of the season (12 sail dates with 5 boats)!

IF you do not have access to JBAB, go to the PSC website and request  DBIDs. This takes some time to process and you can't get to the boats without it. Note: PSC can only sponsor DBIDS cards for active club members.

    Happy Sailing!

Come join for a Wednesday Night Social Sail with PSC!!!

Here's your chance to take a little time after work (or maybe even leave the office early if you can) and join some of your fellow PSC members for an evening social sail on the Potomac.

Boats depart the docks by 5:30 PM (or whenever a skipper has a boat full of people).  All boats must be tied back up in their slips before sunset.

Come out and join us and practice your sailing. You might pick up a tip or be able to share your tips with each other in this relaxed atmosphere. Oh, did we mention that it's only $10 to participate (& free for Skippers)? How much better can it get?!

BUT WAIT, THERE's MORE! On the last Wednesday of each month, we will hold a Social Hour after we sail with FREE Club provided refreshments!

We hope to see you out on the water!

    ______________________________________________________________

NOTE TO ALL: Capacity is totally dependent on how many Skippers sign up. No skipper, no boat. If you are considering being a Skipper (see requirements below), but need some orientation and/or a bit more practice, let us know. We'll figure something out.

NOTICE: Due to very high demand, with significant waitlists for Club members, Guest registration is unavailable. If you wish to sail with family members, consider a Family Membership

NOTE: We are always looking for Skippers!

To be a Skipper on a Social Sail, a member must be pre-approved in accordance with the PSC Training and Qualifications Policy. Generally that requires: completing ASA 101/103, three sails on the Potomac within the past two years subsequent to 101/103, a Boater Safety Card, and having sailed once on the Potomac each season prior to Skippering.

If that's you, fill out this form

The Mount Vernon Chase is a pursuit-style race.  Each boat will be given an individual start time, based on PHRF.  Boats will be scored in the order in which they cross the finish line, rather than having times corrected afterwards.  This is a longer race, and it's a great opportunity to see some scenery further from our usual venue.

    Skipper:  Ross Rosiak email communicationscommodore@pentagonsailing.org

This is a multi-day social sail over the Memorial Day weekend. We depart the marina on Saturday and meet other boats on the bay, raft-up, and spend the day on the water. See flyer attached below.

    Theme: Salty Sailors

Location: San Domingo Creek and Oxford, MD

This is a great multi-day experience, where you get to experience the liveaboard style, plus you get to raft-up with other boats. The sail is a great time to practice any skills you may need for a certification, or just to make sure you keep them sharp. If all you want is relax, there will be multiple fore-decks where you can do so.

The "Labor Day Raft Up" is fast approaching and we are well on our way to planning the event. This year's theme is "Salty Sailors!" - Cheers to those Sailors who have been with PSC for many years and deserve an "Outta Boy". We are planning a fun filled set of events and hope that you are able to participate.

    • 25 May 2024 - Raft Up will be held in San Domingo Creek (Coord. f 38°46'8"N 76°13'42"W) . CAPT Ross Rossiak will be coordinating the information regarding the raft up itself. Vilma Baez will be the planner for the evening event. Once again, it is all about the "Salty Sailors" so wear anything you deem appropriate for the event. This is a hard one so put your mind at work!
    • 26 May 2024 - We will conduct our second event at Oxford, Maryland (coord. 38°41'32"N 76°10'15"W). As for the restaurant, Vilma is still working on the best possible alternative. Count of the event being held around 1500 either catered or at a nearby restaurant.

Monday we return to our home ports.

If you intend to take your boat to Oxford, we recommend the Safe Harbor Oxford Marina. You will need to make slip reservations via the DOCKWA app (or at https://dockwa.com safe-harbor-oxford) as soon as possible. The contact at the marina is Jeff Maki, 410-226-5450.

As mentioned above, Ross will soon provide more details about the raft up. Please let him know about your boat, captain and crew.

We look forward to seeing you. Please pass the information about the Raft Up to anyone who wants to attend and let me know if you have any questions.

    Regards,

    Vilma Baez baez.vilma@gmail.com

    Coordinator

Registration price only covers charter costs. Additional costs such as food, pump-out, fuel, and slip fees will be shared by the crew.

The charter boat is a catamaran with three 2-person cabins and three singles in salon (sleeping nine). You can check it out here.

The club may switch to a 4-cabin catamaran if one becomes available, at which point you will have the option of changing your reservation.
