Memorial Day Raft Up (MDRU) 2017

MDRU Basics
This year’s MDRU begins on Saturday, May 27 and continues through Monday, May 29.

The plan is for the Club to raft up Saturday night on Magothy River. On Sunday, we will sail to Baltimore, MD, and dock at Inner Harbor Marina. A club-subsidized dinner will be held at Tir Na Nog Irish Bar and Restaurant. Everyone will sail back to home marinas Monday.

Boat owners and private charterers going on the MDRU:
Contact the MDRU Coordinators to let us know about your participation in the raft-up Saturday night. Include a description of your boat so the mechanics of the raft-up can be coordinated.

Please contact Inner Harbor Marina directly to reserve a spot by May 5th by calling Geather Norris at (410) 837-5339 or via email at: Make sure to mention you are with the Pentagon Sailing Club. You will need to provide the details on your boat including dimensions and power requirements. There is no anchoring or mooring area in the vicinity of the marina. In addition, let the raft MDRU Team and Bay Commodore know of your participation for the Sunday dinner. See dinner registration for self and crew to the right.

Sugar and Spice
Since the Labor Day 2016 event was superseded by a Tropical Storm, the theme for this raft up will again be “Sugar and Spice,” a testament to Baltimore Harbor’s history: Domino Sugar and McCormick Spice Co.’s Old Bay Seasoning. So dust off your recipe and mixology books to concoct your best raft-up food or drink that reflects this part of Baltimore culture.
