Come join for a Wednesday Night Social Sail with PSC!!!

Here's your chance to take a little time after work (or maybe even leave the office early if you can) and join some of your fellow PSC members for an evening social sail on the Potomac.

Boats depart the docks by 4:30 PM at the latest (or earlier if a skipper has a boat full of people). All boats must be tied back up in their slips before sunset.

Come out and join us and practice your sailing. You might pick up a tip or be able to share your tips with each other in this relaxed atmosphere. Oh, did we mention that it's only $10 to participate (& free for Skippers)? How much better can it get?!

NOTE TO ALL: Capacity is totally dependent on how many Skippers sign up. No skipper, no boat. If you are considering being a Skipper (see requirements below), but need some orientation and/or a bit more practice, let us know. We'll figure something out.

NOTE: We are always looking for Skippers!

To be a Skipper on a Social Sail, a member must be pre-approved in accordance with the PSC Training and Qualifications Policy. Generally that requires: completing ASA 101/103, three sails on the Potomac within the past two years subsequent to 101/103, a Boater Safety Card, and having sailed once on the Potomac each season prior to Skippering.

PSC members;

Monthly Membership social meetings are generally held the third Monday of every month (3rd Tuesday, when conflicts or Monday is a holiday), except in Summer months and December when the annual Holiday Party & Awards Dinner takes place.

We normally have dinner together, hear from a guest speaker, and then conduct a business meeting. All year long, it's a good time!

Cruising to New England via the Long Island Sound

Are you curious about cruising to New England? Have you ever wondered how it would feel to sail past Lady Liberty? Do you doubt that lobster pots really outnumber Chesapeake crab pots? Join us for a candid presentation by Captain Cheryl Duvall as she shares highlights and a few lowlights from a recent 101-day cruise from Annapolis to Maine and back. Her image-rich slide deck features 42 destinations along the 1,820 nautical mile journey, through Long island Sound, the Cape Cod Canal, and across “Down East” Maine. She will share recommendations for anchoring, mooring, and docking between here and there. And she even has detailed latitude and longitude coordinates for those who are interested. Spare parts, tools, and safety measures will also be reviewed. From dodging ferries near the Statue of Liberty to redefining “lobsters rolls,” her sea tales are sure to inspire your future maritime adventures.

Captain Cheryl Duvall: Captain Cheryl Duvall is President of CAPCA (Chesapeake Area Professional Captains Association) and holds a USCG Masters license up to 100 gross tons with auxiliary sail. She has more than 5,000 nautical miles of bluewater and coastal sailing, between Maine and Florida, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean. She also holds an RYA Inland Waterways Helmsman’s Certificate for barges up to 65 feet.

After her long-distance cruising experience to Florida in 2015, Cheryl became a licensed captain and continues to build her sailing experience with offshore passages and coastal cruising. She lives in Annapolis MD and frequently sails her Gozzard 44 SV Belle Bateau on the Chesapeake Bay and beyond. She enjoys writing about her sailing adventures for SpinSheet magazine and is a frequent speaker at yacht clubs and boat shows. You may also see her at the helm of Watermark’s Miss Anne tour boat in the Annapolis harbor.

Happy Hour and networking starts at 6:30 pm and meeting starts at 7:00 pm with a short ice-breaker. We recommend that you come early to have some food (individual tab), birthday cake for our recent birthdays, and and hang around with other sailors.

Here's your chance to take a little time after work (or maybe even leave the office early if you can) and join some of your fellow PSC members for an evening social sail on the Potomac.

Boats depart the docks starting at 4:30; 5:30 PM at the latest. All boats must be tied back up in their slips before sunset.

BUT WAIT, THERE's MORE! On the last Wednesday of each month, we will hold a Social Hour after we sail with FREE Club provided refreshments!

Hydrilla Cup (31 Oct 2026)

The Hydrilla Cup is a PSC social event hosted by the Racing Squadron. Join us for a day of races, fellowship, and a cookout!

The main event will be a series of two to three races on the Potomac River in which teams of PSC members compete against each other to claim victory on one of our Capri 22's. We'll follow the racing with a cookout at the marina.

This is also a great opportunity to try out for PSC's 2027 racing team.

This event is free, but registration is required since there's limited space on the boats. If you'd like to share a dish for the cookout, please send a note to racing@pentagonsailing.org. If you'd like to attend the cookout but not sail, there's unlimited space to attend.

Note: This event is held on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling; you must have an ID card (or a DIBDS card) that allows access to the base to participate.
