Piloting and Navigation

Two classes - must attend both. First class is March 10. Second class is scheduled for March 17. Registering here accounts for both.

Piloting involves navigating a vessel in restricted waters and fixing its position as precisely as possible at frequent intervals. Team PSC will help you learn, among other things, lines of position, dead reckoning, ranges, estimated positions, running fixes, and danger bearings. This is a two day class and is part of the ASA 105 certification.

Participation must have a "Nav Kit" for this course.  If you do not have your own, for registrations occurring before February 26, you can order a Kit through us at a reduced cost of $45. This is a significant saving from purchasing these items on your own. This kit includes:

(1)  6" fixed point dividers (item #262),

(2)  nautical slide rule (item #105), and

(3)  compact parallel plotter (item #60)

Lead instructor: Don Hupman

Members may use one (1) FVSM for this class. Please check the FVSM spreadsheet to make sure you have FVSM(s) available before choosing either of these pricing options.

POC: John Laffman, Training Commodore.
