    PSC Pandemic Policy Acknowledgement

The Club has adopted a new pandemic policy which will affect how sailing activities are conducted during the 2020 sailing season.

To help make this process easier and more manageable we will ask all members participating in an event to use this acknowledgment registration in place of managing paper based waivers.

Listed below are some of the highlights from the new policy:

    - Boat capacity restrictions

    - All participants must verify that they have been symptom free for 14 days and consent to having their temperature taken. Members who have not been symptom free or who register a temperature of 100.4° F or above may not sail that day.

    - The boat surfaces will be wiped down with a disinfectant prior to use.

    - All participants are required to wear gloves. Sailing gloves are acceptable.

    - All participants must sign a COVID-19 Participation Waiver in addition to the original waiver.

    - Masks will not be required. Those who wish to participate should consider their personal risk to exposure as other crew members may not be wearing masks.

PSC recognizes that sailing is a fun, outdoor activity that can be great exercise and an opportunity for social interaction. However, some of the COVID-19 risk factors are personal in nature, and may actually apply to close friends and family members, so it is up to each individual to gauge their personal risk attitude prior to signing up for OTW activities.

    Bay Day Sail

Bay sails are recreational and designed to build experience and provide an enjoyable time. While there is no specific list of training objectives for this sail, you can request the skipper to review specific techniques with you and the crew.

Bay sails are a good way to progress towards your Bay Skipper certification, refresh your knowledge acquired through ASA or other programs, "upgrade" your ASA101/103 experience, prepare for ASA104 and beyond, or just to bring someone else to the world of sailing.

    POC: Pablo Destefanis

One FVSM may be used for this sail. If you are using one, select the "Volunteers with FVSM" payment option. Please check the FVSM spreadsheet to make sure you have FVSMs available before choosing this option.

Bay Sail - Labor Day Raft-Up (3-day sail)

Theme: What will Sailing look like a hundred years from now?

      Prizes awarded for:

      • Dress
      • Decorations
      • Food
      • Music
      • Drinks

Our panel of notable futurists will select the winners, and name the boat "most likely to still be sailing in 2120"

      Boat: Slowdown (Dufour 430)

      Skipper: TBA

This is a multi-day social sail over the Labor Day weekend. We depart the marina on Saturday on this boat, and meet other boats on the bay, raft-up, and spend the day on the water. Full sail plan available here.

The first night we anchor, and then reconnect with the other boats. On the second night (Sunday), we dock at Harrington Harbor North and have dinner at Dockside restaurant (register here!), get take out, or prepare meals on the boats (at each crew's preference).

Monday we return to our home ports.

For more details on the event (not related to the charter), contact the LDRU Coordinator.

This is a great multi-day experience, where you get to experience the live-aboard style, plus you get to raft-up with other boats. The sail is a great time to practice any skills you may need for a certification, or just to make sure you keep them sharp. If all you want is relax, there will be multiple fore-decks where you can do so.

Registration price only covers charter costs. Additional costs such as food, pump-out, fuel, and slip fees will be shared by the crew.

The charter boat is a monohull with four cabins (sleeping eight). You can check it out here (layout 2)

Location: Click for direction to Port Annapolis Marina

      POC: Pablo Destefanis

Depending on interest, we may be able to fill a second boat. Add your name to the waiting list if sail fills up.

Note: As of early July, Maryland is discouraging boats from rafting up. If this remains the case, the raft-up may turn into a rendezvous in Waterhole Cove with boats anchoring separately.

A maximum of two FVSMs may be used for this sail. If you are using an FVSM(s), select the applicable MDRU with FVSM(s) payment option. Places available for FVSM holders are limited, so hurry up!

Please check the FVSM spreadsheet to make sure you have FVSM(s) available before choosing either of these pricing options.

The 27th annual Leukemia Cup will take place on Saturday, September 5th.  This charitable fundraiser supports the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and is the Potomac River's biggest annual regatta.  PSC will enter up to four boats in the competition.  Each boat will be skippered by an experience PSC raising skipper, but the crews are open to all PSC members.  We'll rally up at Capitol Cove Marina at 8:00 am.  The regatta is followed by an awards ceremony, silent auction, and BBQ cookout at the Washington Sailing Marina.

Since its inception, the Leukemia Cup has raised millions of dollars for lifesaving research and patient services, bringing help and hope to patients and their families.  If you'd like to sponsor a boat and/or donate to the fight against blood cancer, please visit PSC's fundraising site, which will be available by mid-August; your contributions are tax deductible.
