    RIVER ACTIVITIES RELEASE FORM

    1. All PSC activities are regarded as training activities. As such, our guideline is that any student participating in these activities will be able to physically respond to the commands of the instructor or skipper in charge. This guideline is for your safety, the safety of your fellow crew members, and the safety of the boat. The skipper will make the final determination of: (1) a student's ability or inability to comply with these guidelines, and (2) the restrictions, if any, of a student's participation as crew on the boat.
    2.  ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND RELEASE

    A. VOLUNTARY PARTICIPATION

I Recognize that I have voluntarily agreed to participate in an event at the Capital Cove Marina or in other Joint Base Anacostia Bolling (JBAB), Anacostia River, or Potomac River Rooms in the National Capital area sponsored by the PSC involving the use of a sailboat and/or a power boat.

    B. THE RISKS

Injuries to participants in small craft programs can occur due to risks inherent in sports or activities; from placing stress on the body for which it is not prepared, of accidents in learning or practicing techniques, from failure to follow training, safety or racing rules; from the use of transportation to and from regattas, races, and other events and from administration of first aid. For example, I might slip and fall; I might be struck by part of a boat, my boat might capsize, or I might be thrown overboard into cold water, it may hit another boat or run into an obstruction or the shore, and the collision may injure me. The severity of the injury can range from minor cuts, scrapes, or muscle strains to catastrophic injury such as paralysis or even death. I will be exposed to the weather, including rain, wind, cold and sun; i might become ill through chill or suffer sunburn and heat exhaustion. In order to avoid injuries I will obey the direction of my instructors and will follow all safety rules. I will tell my instructor about any limitations or medical restrictions on my participation.

    C. ASSUMPTION OF RISK

I AM AWARE THAT MOVING, LAUNCHING, HOISTING, LOWERING, SKIPPERING, CREWING, OR BEING A PASSENGER OR STUDENT ABOARD A SAILBOAT OR A POWERBOAT AT JOINT BASE ANACOSTIA-BOLLING CAPITAL COVE MARINA, AND IN THE WATERS OF THE ANACOSTIA OR THE POTOMAC RIVERS IN THE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION ARE HAZARDOUS ACTIVITIES. I AM VOLUNTARILY PARTICIPATING IN THESE ACTIVITIES WITH KNOWLEDGE OF THE DANGER INVOLVED.

    D.  RELEASE

As consideration for being permitted by PSC to participate in this activity and to use the Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling Capital Cove Marina facility and equipment furnished by PSC or others. I agree that my heirs, assigns, distributees, guardians, and representatives and I release PSC, Joint Base Anacostia- Bolling Capital Cove Marina, and the Department of Defense, all of their affiliated organizations and their officers, directors, employees, members, volunteers, or participants (collectively, the Releasees) from all actions, claims, or demands that I, my heirs, assigns, distributees, guardians, and representative now have or may hereafter have, for injury, death, or damage resulting from my participation in this activity or while traveling to and from or being transported for this activity. I, my heirs, assigns, distributees, guardians and representative will not make any claim against or sue the Releasees or any of them for injury, death, or damage resulting from the negligence or other acts, howsoever caused by any employee, agent or contractor of PSC, the Department of Defense or any of their affiliated organizations as a result of my participation in this activity.

    E. KNOWING AND VOLUNTARILY SIGNING AND/OR ACCEPTING THIS DOCUMENT

I hereby acknowledge I have carefully read this agreement and fully understand its content. I am aware that this is a release of liability and a contract between PSC, the Department of Defense, their affiliated organizations, and me. I am signing this document of my own free will.

I also certify that I/my child can swim or tread water for ten minutes and don a personal flotation device/life jacket during the last two minutes.

I agree to abide by the Rules and Regulations, as established by PSC, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling Capital Cove Marina and the Department of Defense while participating in this program.

    BAY DAY SAIL

    • Boat Name: Dufour 412GL
    • Skipper: TBD

Bay sails are recreational and designed to build experience and provide an enjoyable time. They can be also a terrific training experience. You will find both novice and expert sailors making it a great chance to learn more. If you are interested in any particular technique, you can request the skipper to review it with you and the crew.

If you prefer to chill out, just sit back, relax and enjoy the sailing near (or under) the Bay Bridge, alongside old lighthouses, and even a stop for lunch at a dockside bar.

Bay sails are an amazing way to progress towards your Bay Skipper certification, refresh your knowledge acquired through ASA or other programs, "upgrade" your ASA101/103 experience, prepare for ASA104 (or your first Caribbean charter), or to introduce someone else to the world of sailing.

Have questions? Please check our FAQ.

    POC: Pablo Destefanis

One FVSM may be used for this sail. If you are using one, select the "Volunteers with FVSM" payment option. Please check the FVSM spreadsheet to make sure you have FVSMs available before choosing this option.

Bay Sail - Labor Day Raft-Up (3-day sail)

    Boat: Dufour 520GL Monohull

    Skipper: John O'Connor

This is a multi-day social sail over the Labor Day weekend. We depart the marina on Saturday and meet other boats on the bay, raft-up, and spend the day on the water.

The first night we anchor, and then reconnect with the other boats. On the second night (Sunday), we dock at Harrington Harbor North and have dinner at Dockside, get take out, or prepare meals on the boats (at each crew's preference).

Monday we return to our home ports.

This is a great multi-day experience, where you get to experience the liveaboard style, plus you get to raft-up with other boats. The sail is a great time to practice any skills you may need for a certification, or just to make sure you keep them sharp. If all you want is relax, there will be multiple fore-decks where you can do so.

Registration price only covers charter costs. Additional costs such as food, pump-out, fuel, and slip fees will be shared by the crew.

The charter boat is a monohull with four cabins (sleeping eight). You can check it out here (layout 2)

Location: Click for direction to Port Annapolis Marina

    POC: Pablo Destefanis

Have questions? Please check our FAQ.

Depending on interest, we may be able to fill a second boat. Add your name to the waiting list if sail fills up.

A maximum of 2 FVSMs may be used for this sail. If you are using an FVSM(s), select the applicable MDRU with FVSM(s) payment option. FVSMs may not be combined with the 1st Timer Discount. Please check the FVSM spreadsheet to make sure you have FVSM(s) available before choosing either of these pricing options.
