DATE CHANGE: March's meeting will be on Wednesday, 22 March.

Monthly Membership social meetings are held the third Monday of every month (3rd Tuesday, when Monday is a holiday), except in December when the annual Holiday Party & Awards Dinner takes the place of the regular social meeting. We normally have dinner together, hear from a guest speaker, and then conduct a business meeting. All year long, it's a good time!

This month's guest speaker our intrepid commodore, Darryl Dennis, will provide an overview of the Bridge's recent activities along with items on the 30 to 60-day calendar that will be of interest for our members.  The Bridge officers in attendance will provide greater details on the activities tied to their respective responsibilities.

Happy Hour and networking starts at 6:00 pm and meeting starts at 7:00 pm with a short ice-breaker.  We recommend that you come early to have some food and drink and hang around with other sailors. This month, we're holding a book swap during the happy. Bring your old sailing boats and maybe you'll find something interesting to take home!

Do you or someone you know have a unique or interesting insight, skill, or experience related to some aspect of sailing you would be willing to present to our membership?

Please contact our Membership Commodore for more information.

    SAVE THE DATE!

Who: Boat Captain, Boat Teams, and YOU!

What: River Team's "Commissioning" of the PSC River Fleet: Aguila, Falcon,, and Peregrine

When: Saturday, 25 March 2023 (Rain Date: Sunday, 26 March)

    Time: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm

Location: Capital Cove Marina, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB), Washington, DC

Why: To prepare for an exciting season of sailing on the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers.

Bottom line: Come join the fun and camaraderie as the PSC River Team prepares our Catalina Capri 22 fleet for the 2023 sailing season on the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers.   The boat captains have spent cold (and sometimes warm) winter days constantly checking the boats and drafting their maintenance plans.  As we head into springtime, the boat captains and their respective crews will conduct pre-season maintenance to ensure the boats will be safe and available for the PSC's busy training, social, and racing events.

So join us on Saturday, 25 March, and help commission* the boats.  It will be fun and enjoyable as the camaraderie among the River Team members is infectious.

Volunteers who do not possess a DoD-issued Common Access Card or Uniform Services ID Card must complete all fields on the event registration form no later than Thursday, 16 March.

The current Health Protection Condition on JBAB is ALPHA.  Masks are no longer required for DoD personnel or visitors, except during visits within medical facilities, per Defense Health Agency policy.

    Sail Safe,

    John S.

Come join for a Wednesday Night Social Sail with PSC!!!

Until the third boat arrives, PSC will hold two social sails per week. Now you have a second sailing option during the week! Note: Crew may one sign up for one social sail per week. If you sign up for Wednesday's sail, you are ineligible to sail on Thursday and vice versa.

Here's your chance to take a little time after work (or maybe even leave the office early if you can) and join some of your fellow PSC members for an evening social sail on the Potomac.

Boats start departing the docks at 4:30 PM and every half hour after (or whenever a skipper has a boat full of people). All boats must be tied back up in their slips before sunset.

Come out and join us and practice your sailing. You might pick up a tip or be able to share your tips with each other in this relaxed atmosphere. Oh, did we mention that it's only $10 to participate (& free for Skippers)? How much better can it get?!

BUT WAIT, THERE's MORE! On the last Wednesday of each month, we will hold a Social Hour after we sail with FREE Club provided refreshments!

We hope to see you out on the water!

    ______________________________________________________________

NOTE TO ALL: Capacity is totally dependent on how many Skippers sign up. No skipper, no boat. If you are considering being a Skipper (see requirements below), but need some orientation and/or a bit more practice, let us know. We'll figure something out.

NOTICE: Due to very high demand, with significant waitlists for Club members, Guest registration is unavailable. If you wish to sail with family members, consider a Family Membership

NOTE: We are always looking for Skippers!

To be a Skipper on a Social Sail, a member must be pre-approved in accordance with the PSC Training and Qualifications Policy. Generally that requires: completing ASA 101/103, three sails on the Potomac within the past two years subsequent to 101/103, a Boater Safety Card, and having sailed once on the Potomac each season prior to Skippering.

Come join for a Thursday Night Social Sail with PSC!!!

As always, all club members are welcome to the end of month post sail social regardless of if you sailed or not.

If that's you, fill out this form

The Three Bridges Fiasco is a longer mid-summer race with some "flexibility" in how you sail the course.  Start in either direction and take the marks in any order you choose.  The pursuit-style start allows boats to be scored in finishing order.  There will be trophies and burgers after the finish.  In case of light winds, the course will revert to a Two Bridges Course.

This event is open to members of the PSC Racing Squadron; racers, remember to sign up on the Racing Sign-Up Sheet.

Happy Hour and networking starts at 6:00 pm and meeting starts at 7:00 pm with a short ice-breaker.  We recommend that you come early to have some food and drink and hang around with other sailors.

Do you or someone you know have a unique or interesting insight, skill, or experience related to some aspect of sailing you would be willing to present to our membership?

Please contact our Membership Commodore for more information.
