ASA 218 Docking Instructor

Boat Name: Indulgence (Jeanneau 45DS)

Skipper: Duncan Hood

Purpose/Training: Certify instructors for teaching/evaluating ASA 118 Close Quarter Maneuvering (CQM). This course is designed to teach basic docking skills for boats with single inboard or outboard engines. It covers the basic theory and hands-on techniques needed to dock and undock boats in an efficient manner and without damage or injury.

ASA 218 Candidates will also have to register directly with ASA and pay the corresponding course fee. Registration here only covers the boat charter.

If there are spaces left, members may participate in this sail as a Close Quarter Maneuvering (CQM) sail to fulfill training requirements for the PSC Bay Skipper. Priority will be given to ASA 218 candidates.

Prerequisites: ASA 201 and 203, three years of sailing experience.

Certification:

ASA - Successful completion of the course and the written exam satisfies all requirements for both -218 and -118 (for those who do not have -118, already).

POC: Chris Cooper
