That's a word you really don't want to hear on a boat! What would you do?
This month's speaker, Captain Ned Ross, is a Battalion Chief in the Anne Arundel Fire Department with years of fire fighting and rescue experience along and on the Chesapeake Bay. Ned will be making an eye-opening fire safety presentation to PSC Members that he gives every year at the US Naval Academy as part of an Offshore Sail Training Squadron classes.

Ned Ross is a career Battalion Chief in the Anne Arundel County Fire Department and holds various national fire service-related certifications. He is a Motor Vessel Operator (MVO) on both of the Anne Arundel County fireboats. He has a USCG 100-ton Master’s license with sailing and towing endorsements and has worked commercially in Baltimore Harbor on the water taxi.
He is a volunteer instructor with the United States Naval Academy in its offshore sail training squadron and holds a Navy E-Qualification as an Master Skipper on large sail-training craft. He has made various eastern seaboard trips with the midshipmen as their CO or XO on a Navy 44’ MK-II sailboat. Ned teaches fire and carbon monoxide emergencies at the United States Naval Academy’ Safety at Sea Program each year.
