The Blue Heron partnership (aka Swift Sailing Company, LLC) has an opening for a new member who would share in ownership, recreational sailing, and supporting the maintenance of Blue Heron, a Hunter 34’ sailboat, 1983 model, on the Chesapeake Bay. The company is non-profit and does not rent the boat out or employ it for any commercial purpose. It is exclusively used by its members and their invited guests, for recreational purposes. The number of members in the partnership is limited to eight, who each own one share in Blue Heron, valued between $3,000 and $3,500. Each member also pays an annual maintenance fee, currently set at $750, which covers insurance, slip fees, boat registration fees, and repair and maintenance costs of operating the sailboat. Blue Heron is currently berthed at White Rocks Marina, in Pasadena, Maryland, just beyond the opening of the Patapsco River into the Chesapeake Bay. For acceptance, new members must meet certain requirements of sailing proficiency and experience sufficient to be able to act as captain of a cruising sailboat of this size in both day and night and variable weather conditions. The partnership places a premium on collegiality and trustworthiness.

If you are interested in such a boat-sharing arrangement and believe you have the needed sailing qualifications, please contact Rodney Jones, the partnership’s Financial Officer, with any questions you may have or to get details on making an application. TEL: 703-476-6756, Email: polarch@verizon.net. FYI: Rodney is also a member of the PSC.
